The
system will provide computerized maps plotted to scale from GPS, with GIS
information, including the actual fire perimeter as well as power lines, fuel
breaks, new road or cat line construction, water source levels, suitable
helispot locations, homes, etc. Fire command teams develop tactics based on
current and expected fire behavior, values vs. risk, potential risk to life and
property, and the potential risk to suppression personnel. The ability of our
system to plot the actual fire perimeter with the heat intensity is invaluable
information for the incident command team.
Our labs primary
purpose is to process radiometric data. However, the lab is equipped to provide
complete GIS services in remote locations including real-time down-linking,
planning maps, incident action maps, fire progression maps, fire spread
prediction,
processing
satellite images, and aerial photos).
